One of our key initiatives is the use of biodegradable packaging. Conventional plastics can take up to thirty years to decompose, causing significant environmental damage. However, our packaging is biodegradable and decomposes in just three years, drastically reducing environmental impact. This innovation is a significant step towards a more sustainable and green future.
Solar Energy: Sustainability in Production
The production of inputs at Apis Vida Group is fully powered by solar energy. We have implemented solar panels in our industrial hub, making us self-sufficient in energy. This clean, renewable, and eco-friendly energy not only reduces our carbon footprint but also contributes to the preservation of natural resources. Since 2012, solar energy has prevented the emission of 12.5 million tons of CO2, according to the Brazilian Association of Solar Energy (ABSOLAR).
The Importance of Bees and Ecosystem Preservation
Bees play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity and food production. They are responsible for 70% of natural pollination, essential for 35% of crops and 94% of wild plants. Unfortunately, the bee population has been declining dramatically, with about 400 million bees dead, 56% of which are due to pesticide use.
Our awareness project aims to educate the population, especially farmers, about the importance of bees to our ecosystem. Without them, half of supermarket shelves would be empty, directly affecting our food supply and biodiversity.
Economy that Benefits: Photovoltaic Energy
Photovoltaic energy is one of our greatest achievements in sustainability. Through the direct conversion of sunlight into electricity, we manage to power 100% of our operations with clean energy. This technology not only helps avoid CO2 emissions but also represents a significant saving for hydroelectric plants.
